Established in 1997 in Historic Cocoa Village, the Alma Clyde Field Library is one of the oldest historical societies in the country with records dating to the 1500s. The collection includes books on Florida, papers of prominent Floridians, historical maps, photos, artifacts and family histories. You can find over six thousand cataloged Florida books, an extensive map collection, manuscripts and photographic holdings. The Library also houses the local Mosquito Beaters' historical collection and the Alice Strickland collections of Floridiana. You can use their online catalog to search collections through PastPerfect: http://myfloridahistory.pastperfectonline.com/ Otherwise, research at the library is by appointment only. The Alma Clyde Field Library of Florida History also contains a souvenir shop with items reflecting the history and rich culture of Florida.
