Located inside the Archie Carr National Refuge, Barrier Island Sanctuary is a 34-acre sanctuary that offers nature enthusiasts and visitors a place to explore the barrier island’s diverse habitats through interactive exhibits at the Management and Education Center and hiking/nature trail. TRAIL HOURS: October through April: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM May through September: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM ACTIVITIES: Management & Education Center Gift Shop Interactive Exhibit Auditorium Library and Classroom Events Eco-Explorers Camp Environmental Education Guided Walks Hiking (1-mile trail loop) Kayak Launch Wildlife Observation
