The Brevard Zoo is consistently voted one of the Top 5 Zoos in the United States by USA Today for a reason. This walkable, fully accessible zoo is filled with well-cared-for animals and experiences you can’t find anywhere else. Kayaking through the giraffe and zebra habitat, walking amongst snoozing kangaroos, and zip-lining over American Alligators and Crocodiles are affordable add-ons to admission that will launch your zoo experience to new heights. Our community-built zoo’s mission is ‘Wildlife conservation through education and participation.’ Here you’ll experience a world-class institution where people gather to learn about animals and actively work to conserve their natural habitats and local ecosystems.
- Kayaking the Nyami Nyami River: Hop in a tandem kayak and paddle a loop through the Expedition Africa habitat. Float past Lemur Island, peek behind the scenes to see ostrich and bongos, and glide past the herds of zebras, giraffes, and impalas.
- Kayak the Wetlands: This accessible experience allows visitors to kayak through natural wetlands while seeing native wild animals in their natural habitat.
- Keeper Chats: Every day of the week, Brevard Zoo’s experts offer live, informational experiences that help you learn more about the animals and get a behind-the-scenes look at life as a zoo professional. For more details, check the ‘Keeper Chat’ schedule.
- Treetop Trek: Walk eye-to-eye with spider monkeys and other animals in Rainforest Revealed as you traverse a challenging aerial ropes course, then soar over the American Alligators and crocodile habitats.
- Kangaroo Walk in Lands of Change: Explore a short loop through the kangaroo’s habitat where you’ll find them hopping across the walkways and snoozing in the shade alongside their other Australian roommates.
- Feeding the Animals: Feed the giraffes from the viewing platform, or walk through the aviary with snacks for the lorikeets and cockatiels! Both are fun experiences with unforgettable photo opportunities.
Tips for Visiting
- Get there early: The animals are most active, and hungry at the beginning of the day.
- Bring your Swimsuit: The Paws On section of the Brevard Zoo has its own playground, petting zoo, and splash pad! Suited for children 2-10, this wading pool offers tons of space for your kiddos to cool off and splash around, and plenty of shade for you to relax and enjoy the wild!
- Embrace Adventure: Check out the exciting add-ons and the unique experiences this zoo has to offer.
- Take your time: Animals are all on their own schedules, take your time, and don’t be worried if you can’t catch an animal right away. The Brevard Zoo is easy to navigate and walk around, there’s plenty of time to return.
- Don’t worry about packing food: While you are welcome to bring your own lunch, snacks, and water bottles, Nourish 321 and Slice Pizzaria are affordable and delicious options!
