COCOA, Fla. (August 19, 2021) – The Space Coast Office of Tourism has been awarded a Gold G-award, one of the highest accolades bestowed by Graphis International Design. The award was for the Summer campaign created by agency-of-record &Barr in the Video/Animation category for its entry “+Space,” promoting its client Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism. “In judging the 2022 Design competition, it became evermore apparent how important powerful branding has become,” says Ron Taft, CCO of Ron Taft Brand Innovation & Media Arts and one of the judges for the Graphis award.

The 30-second video features computer graphics, animations and a voiceover enticing viewers to visit Florida’s Space Coast, known as home of Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. Due to safety and permitting, the &Barr team could not film the way they initially envisioned. The solution was for &Barr to build it themselves by working in Cinema 4D to control the placement of the sun and clouds, the rocket’s rotation and the placement of multiple cameras to secure the proper angle needed to complete the image desired.

Judging for the Graphis awards took place over the course of a competition spanning several months. Entries were chosen for the purpose of presenting the best work of the year. The categories in which the work was submitted played a key role in the selection process, as the goal was to present a cross-sampling of great design pieces from specific types.
