A place that has it all

When you only have a day to knock out as much as you can, having a plan of action is imperative. And visiting Melbourne and the Beaches for the day means that you’ll want to know where to eat and what to do to make the most of your time on Florida’s Space Coast. You might just find there’s not enough time to get it all in 24 hours, so consider staying the night at one of the area’s hotels.

Here are 10 things to do in a place that has it all!

Paradise Beach | 2301 North Highway A1A | Melbourne

For those looking for a beach that has something for everyone then Paradise Beach is for you. With volleyball courts ready to serve up a lively competition, covered picnic pavilions, not to mention a large playground for kids, this beach offers a beautiful natural landscape with plenty of shade, perfect for an hour or two (or a whole day) at the beach for a surf session or some chill time.

Da Kine Diegos | 1360 Florida A1A | Satellite Beach

When you need food-to-go, but you want something other than the “golden arches,” Da Kine Diegos is the go-to spot. Don’t be fooled by this surf shack; it’s a favorite on the Space Coast for tacos, salads, and a burrito that has earned the title “insane” because of its size. The ambiance is great for when you want a meal pre- or post-beach time. Have time for a sit-down meal instead? Check out Longdoggers – Satellite Beach or Indialantic for good food in a laid-back environment.

Longboard House | 101 5th Avenue | Indialantic

The Space Coast is known for great waves and famous surfers and if you want to shop-til-you-drop like a true local, then head over to Longboard House. This is the place to stop by if you want to bring home your own one-of-a-kind surfboard. With surf accessories and other gift ideas from tees, hats and other apparel, this is definitely a place to stop by before headed home.

Barrier Island Sanctuary | 8385 S. Highway A1A | Melbourne Beach

If you want a unique experience while exploring the area, this hands-on educational venue gives visitors an inside look at the sea turtles that make the Space Coast home. With interactive exhibits, nature films, and a 1-mile long dune-to-lagoon nature trail, you’ll get to observe the exciting diverse habitats of the Barrier Island wildlife. Want more of this kind of experience? Check out the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge either on the way or after your time at the Barrier Island Sanctuary.

Sebastian Inlet | 9700 S. Highway A1A | Melbourne Beach

Making a stop at Sebastian Inlet is a must! Packed with so many things to do, picking just one thing might a bit of a challenge. This place is a premier fishing and water adventure spot where exploring under the sea gives you a look at some of the most beautiful sea life while staying above the surface gives you access to some of the best waves on the Space Coast. But if you really want to experience this spot, make plans to stay the night at one of the campsites available. You’ll be glad you did.

Treetop Trek at Brevard Zoo | 8225 N. Wickham Road | Melbourne

Take a self-guided tour in this aerial adventure that takes you through lush Florida landscapes with breathtaking views. With courses available for beginner, intermediate, and experts, zip, climb and crawl through the different obstacles for a fun-filled experience. Treetop Trek is located at the Brevard Zoo, so if you decide to make this more than just a one-day trip, you’ll want to consider adding a day at the zoo for even more fun.

Downtown Melbourne | New Haven Avenue | Melbourne

This little known pleasantry to some of the beach visitors has become one of the top places for shopping, dining and entertainment on the Space Coast. With great food, great shopping, and great live music, Downtown Melbourne is a nice stop whether to wind down your day with dinner or get ready for an evening out on the town.

Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD) | 587 W. Eau Gallie Boulevard | Melbourne

Explore art in its many forms and experience culture in a new way when you stop and spend some time in the Eau Gallie Arts District. Enjoy a wall mural self-guided tour or peruse the many art galleries and quaint shops in another “downtown” area Melbourne and the Beaches boast.

Lost Shirt Brewing Co | 7025 Industrial Road, Unit B | West Melbourne

Finish out the day with a cold beer at Lost Shirt Brewing Co. This nano-brewing company gets you outside of the traditional craft brewery experience with unique flavors that satisfy your taste buds. If you’re not a fan of beer, there’s wine, cider, and handcrafted sodas available so you can get refreshed after a long day of exploring.

You have 10 things you must do and by now you’ve probably realized that trying to cram all these things into one day may be near impossible.
