Florida’s Space Coast preserves its natural legacy within many parks including the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, Canaveral National Seashore, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. There are a total of 108 parks, 3 campgrounds, 3 golf courses, 6 nature centers, 42 beach access sites, 13 school athletic sites, and more than 17,000 acres of environmentally endangered lands sanctuaries and conservation areas.
Visitors can discover unique features and recreational opportunities available throughout the park system including:
- Public golf at beautiful golf courses
- Camping at unique campgrounds
- Horse trails, fishing holes and nature trails
- Boating with access to the waterways by boat ramps at many parks
- Beach, river and lake swimming and various venues for watersports including sailing, windsurfing, surfing, rowing, paddling and sailing
- Sports facilities including softball, tennis, volleyball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, and ball fields
- Clubhouses, pavilions and playgrounds
Many county parks in Brevard preserve the sensitive ecosystem and include endangered lands and threatened species. Educational programs at nature centers and sanctuaries teach visitors about wildlife including the osprey, eagle, egret, pelican, sea turtles and manatees.
