Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge

The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge hosted the annual birding festival for over 20 years and is a great way to experience this wildlife sanctuary, but birding isn’t the only fun activity for you and your kids to enjoy. The sanctuary also offers fishing areas, several hiking trails, and a visitor center. And you don’t want to miss the 7-mile drive along Black Point where you get to follow a dirt road around several marshes, giving you viewing access to wading birds, alligators, river otters, bobcats, and so much more.
