A lot can happen in one day

Cocoa Beach is one of the top destinations in Florida, and it’s nestled right here in the heart of the Space Coast. But when you are short on time, knowing where to go and what to do helps ensure that you’ll get a full day of fun. How does one spend a day in Cocoa Beach and make the most of it? Here is a list of 10 things you have to do.

Ron Jon Surf Shop

This “one of a kind” shop has everything you need to enjoy a fun day in the sun. With beach clothing, surf and skate gear, and souvenir trinkets and more, Ron Jon has been a favorite one-stop-shop and icon in Cocoa Beach since it opened in the late ‘60s.

Florida Surf Museum

Located inside Ron Jon Surf Shop rental store, experience the rich surf history, heritage, and traditions of the surfing community that has helped shape and influence Cocoa Beach. The museum hosts events and exhibits and gives each visitor an opportunity to hear stories captured in time through the voices of the surf community from yesterday and today.

Museum of Dinosaurs & Ancient Cultures

Step back in time as you dig and explore the mysterious world of dinosaurs, the ancient Egyptians, Mesoamerica and so much more or take a ride on the wild side as you brave the rapids of the Nile River (and you won’t even get wet). This is a great way to incorporate some educational learning without feeling like you’re in school.

Cocoa Beach Aerial Adventures

For an opportunity to get a bird’s eye view of Cocoa Beach, head over to Cocoa Beach Aerial Adventures, where conquering your fear of heights and testing your problem-solving skills is actually fun. This exciting ropes course has 48 obstacles and three levels of difficulty so no matter the age or skill level, everyone comes out a winner with memories that last a lifetime.

Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier

When you want to find a place where you can catch a fish, catch a wave, or catch some sun, then spending time at the Cocoa Beach Pier is the spot for you. This historic landmark has been a local favorite for over 50 years and gives you panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, a perfect complement to breakfast, lunch, dinner, or better yet, happy hour.

Downtown Dining

Cocoa Beach is home to many great restaurants and cafés that will invigorate your senses, but if you want to be able to take a stroll before or after dining then make your way downtown to Main Street. With an eclectic variety of restaurants to choose from, no matter if you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a quick snack or espresso to go, there is something for you.

Kelly Slater Statue

Grab a selfie with the statue of surf icon Kelly Slater. A world-renown and one of the Space Coast’s hometown heroes, Slater is a decorated athlete having won eleven world titles. Find his statue at the entrance of Downtown Cocoa Beach.

River Boat Tour

Cocoa Beach not only gives you direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, but also the Banana River and many other canals and estuaries where you can experience and explore native wildlife and vegetation this area is known for. Wildside Tours in Cocoa Beach provides a 2-hour tour, perfect for ensuring you fit as many things in a day as possible, without scrimping on giving each guest a tour to remember.

Coconuts on the Beach

What’s better than ending your day with a beach sunset and a nice ocean breeze? How about coupling that with good food, good drinks, and good entertainment? Coconuts on the Beach is a great place to finish out your whirlwind of a day where you can enjoy all that and more. Take an evening stroll along the shoreline to get that last little bit of sand between your toes before officially calling it a day.

With all this fun to be had, you may want to try adding more time to your visit. Stay the night and enjoy all that the area has to offer, and be sure to check out the Space Coast Vacation Planner to help you plan for more ways to enjoy the area.
