New Sports Coordinator joins Space Coast Office of Tourism

Cocoa Beach, FL – (July, 2022) The Space Coast Office of Tourism welcomes new Sports Coordinator, Terry Parks to the team. The Tourism Sports Coordinator is a position that oversees the Sports Grants Program, is the office contact for the Brevard County Tourist Development Council’s Sports Committee, acts as a liaison to sporting events and venues, and encourages new sporting opportunities to come to the Space Coast.

Parks joins the team from Brevard County Parks and Recreation where he was the North Area Recreation Superintendent and served as their United Way representative, and was the Recreation Program Coordinator at Viera Regional Community Center prior to that role. Parks has coached basketball for over 20 years, including stints at The University of North Florida, The Citadel, Brevard Public Schools, Eastern Florida State College, and Florida Institute of Technology. His coaching career has afforded him some tremendous opportunities, including being hired as a camp counselor at Michael Jordan's Flight School in Santa Barbara, CA.  He’s also worked collegiate basketball camps in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Terry to the team,” says Peter Cranis, Executive Director. “His extensive knowledge of both the sports industry and the county, coming from Parks and Recreation, will be a benefit to our office as we continue to work at bringing new and exciting sporting events to the Space Coast.”

Terry Parks is from Columbus, GA and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University, where he was a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team. He and his wife, Jamesha, have 2 children, high school sophomores and twins Olivia and TJ.
