Welcoming the UK Visitor

Visitors booking with TUI are looking forward to a multi-destination vacation. While they are landing on the Space Coast, many of them will be looking to head to Orlando for theme parks or to other well-known beach destinations. We can do our best to keep them here and show them how epic a Space Coast getaway can be.

TUI segments its customers into 3 main types. Working professionals seeking a fun relaxing getaway with friends and family. Mature adults looking to explore and relax on their vacations, and families with school-aged children looking for fun experiences, relaxation, and exploring something new. Visitors typically stay for 9 nights and spend around $3,000 while on a TUI Holiday. With an average household income of $100k and an age of 44, these are fantastic visitors to welcome to our destination.

These visitors are more interested in beach holidays than city outings and are also interested in cruising. Ideal itineraries for them can be broken down into the following categories:

Thoughtful Considerations

TUI Lingo Glossary USA to UK

Go the Distance: It may be more helpful to describe distance in the time it takes to get there. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is 45 minutes north in Titusville. Or it will take about 20 minutes to get from Cocoa Beach to Port Canaveral to dine at The Cove. Helping international visitors understand exactly where Melbourne is located in relation to Space Coast attractions such as Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and also in relation to the Disney/Universal I-4 corridor is key. Once they understand how easy it is to travel to and from the Space Coast there is a great chance they’ll stay in our market and enjoy their time in Florida more than they could have ever expected.

MLB to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex = 56 Minutes
MLB to Port Canaveral = 51 Minutes
MLB to Cocoa Beach =46 Minutes
MLB to Melbourne Beach = 19 Minutes
MLB to Sebastian Inlet State Park = 40 Minutes

MLB to Disney World  = 1 Hour 20 Minutes
MLB to Universal Studios = 1 Hour 17 Minutes
MLB to St. Petersburg =  3 Hours 11 Minutes
MLB to Miami = 3 Hours 22 Minutes

Wildlife Warnings: Warn them about alligators. Most people who travel to Florida don’t realize that alligators are wild animals and can be in any body of water. If you’re speaking with an international visitor and they mention wanting to see some wildlife, remind them to be wary of the water’s edge.

Stock Up:  Stocking up on comfort items like afternoon tea and malt vinegar in your restaurants can be a small way to show these new visitors you care about their experience. Having easy to grab-and-go items like sunscreen and sunglasses available for purchase can enhance a visitor’s experience as well.

Stay a While: The Space Coast is home to a tight-knit community of small businesses, let’s help each other out. Understanding that these visitors are landing here to explore the state, it can be extremely impactful to recommend your favorite small businesses when they are looking for places to eat, things to do, or accommodations. This partnership with the Melbourne Orlando International Airport can have a significant economic impact on the Space Coast, we can show these visitors what’s so special about our slice of paradise, and encourage them to stay and visit many times over!
