This year’s 10K has been named the RRCA Southern Championship 10K Race. Additionally\, participants who take on both the 10K and 2 Mile races in the Slay the Beast Challenge will earn three fierce medals for their efforts. Are you ready to face the Dragon?

DESCRIPTION:Jazz vocalist MICKEY FREEMAN is in concert featuring John Simon on piano\, Gene Bruno on sax\, Joe Lopez on bass & Claudio Berardi on drums.\nMickey is a self taught vocalist who began her career in Boston in 1980 when she became a member of the 30’s/40’s campy swing group\, The Boo-Bette Band\, who toured throughout New England.\nShe later formed the vocal-based group\, The Ritz which was inspired by the likes of The Manhattan Transfer and Lambert\, Hendricks & Ross. The Ritz played domestic and International jazz festivals. She toured with such artists as Dizzy Gillespie\, Woody Herman\, Gerry Mulligan\, Kenny Burrell\, The Pointer Sisters\, Phil Woods and Spyro Gyra in Finland\, Morocco and Singapore. The Ritz also released two albums\, “Steppin’ Out” and “Born To Bop” .\nMickey performed with the leader of the Rhode Island based Roomful of Blues\, Duke Robillard. And then she recorded “Livin’ The Dream” produced by Duke Robillard on Blue Duchess Records. For the next eight years\, Mickey fronted several jazz trios and quartets in New Jersey.\nMickey lives in Vero Beach\, FL\, performing regularly at The Grind & Grape Café\, Costa D’Este Hotel\, Cobalt at Vero Beach Hotel\, Vero Beach Country Club\, Vero Beach Yacht Club. \nGeneral Admission is paid at the door. $30 for members of the Jazz Society & Veterans Memorial Center\, $35 for guests & students are FREE.

The team was initially formed in 1989 with 22 young women as a club under the direction of John Harbaugh and head coach Pops Atkinson. \nSpace Coast Crew started when multiple High School rowing teams in Brevard County came together to share resources and equipment. What started as a collection of multiple teams quickly grew to become one club team. From there\, the club grew to add more and more student athletes and competitive programs and divisions. Today\, over 25 years from our founding\, our club serves Elementary\, Middle\, and High School student athletes from all over Brevard and we run programs for roughly 150 Youth student athlete members between all our programs. We are committed to teaching rowing while simultaneously using the natural lessons that come with our sport to teach youth how to work hard\, be patient\, and set goals. \nWe are a parent run\, volunteer organization with a professional coaching staff. We depend on parents\, community volunteers\, and community donors to operate\, manage\, and maintain our wonderful programs.
