Spooky Space Coast Destinations For a Haunting Halloween

Did you know that Florida’s Space Coast is said to be haunted by the ghosts of astronauts, theater employees, restaurant owners, and more? Or that the Brevard Zoo hosts some of the most frightening, blood-curdling trails in the area? Whether you’re looking for a safe, family-friendly spot to celebrate with the kids or are ready to solve murder mysteries and fight zombies, Florida’s Space Coast is your stop for all things Halloween. Prepare early by planning for these events and tours that are sure to chill you to the bone.  

Enjoy Family-Friendly Activities and Bone-Chilling Trails at Brevard Zoo 

Sure to be a spooktacular experience for the whole family, Boo at the Zoo (select dates through October 30) features more than 30 treat stations each weekend, a “Boo Choo” train, live music, creepy crafts, competitive games, costume contests and more! Leave the kids home and wander through the Trail of Terror (select dates) at the entrance to Treetop Trek...if you dare. Discover the mystery of the Woods Family Harvest Celebration massacre and the mental asylum built on their forsaken property, but watch out for monsters and ghouls lurking behind every corner. 

Run or Crawl in Downtown Melbourne

On Friday, October 21 get ready to run for your life at the Melbourne Zombie Walk, complete with makeup artists to apply latex wounds, trivia, merchandise, and costume contests. At 6:45 p.m. the zombies will walk through the streets of downtown Melbourne chasing the survivors, thus beginning the Zombie Pub crawl (21+ only).  Tickets are $18 in advance or $25 day of and include six drinks, one at each stop of the night. There will be separate adult costume contests and activities during the pub crawl.

Dress Up with Your Furry Friends 

Melbourne's best dog-friendly 5K welcomes you back to The Doggy Run on October 30 at Wickham Park Trails. They will be offering a Halloween-themed trail 5K with a 1-mile option. All human participants will receive a T-shirt and finisher's medal and their canine counterparts will receive a dog bandanna and a finisher's medal. Donations will benefit several dog rescue organizations. Don’t have a furry friend but still want to run a 5K? The Witch Way 5K takes place October 8 in Indialantic. 

Find Out What’s Lurking in the Swamp

Taking place on select weekends, Camp Holly and the Brevard County Airboat Association invite you to discover swamp “monsters” on a haunted airboat ride along the St. Johns River. A haunted trail will also be set up for guests to venture through. This event is kid-friendly, but some kids may be frightened so please proceed with caution.

On October 29, families are welcome to quaint Riverfront Park for a safe and fun  Halloween in the Village for all ages! Treats, activities, entertainment, and eerie storytelling at the Porcher House are just a few fun things to do. Enjoy classic fall activities like hay rides, pumpkin decorating and more!
