Play Like a Local on Florida’s Space Coast!

Florida’s Space Coast offers visitors far more than miles of beautiful beaches. It’s also home to some of the most delicious dining and authentic attractions in the state. And who better to recommend the best local eateries than the locals themselves?

When visiting Florida's Space Coast, a pro surfer could be dining next to you at dinner and astronaut could be catching some rays on the beach. Here, its laid-back and you'll feel part of our crew in no time.

Now some may say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but finding the best coffee on Florida’s Space Coast is no easy feat. Lucky for you, the locals have spoken and here are some of the best places to start your day off right:

  • Ossorio Bakery & Café

316 Brevard Ave., Cocoa, FL 32922

Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Cocoa Village, Ossorio Bakery & Café has established itself as a local favorite. Serving coffee roasted on-site, hand-rolled French pastries, wood-oven baked pizza and an ice cream parlor, Ossorio, only 10 minutes from Cocoa Beach, is nestled among quaint antique shops and unique boutiques along an especially captivating section of Brevard Avenue.

  • Indian River Coffee Company

2112 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL 32935

Located minutes from the Orlando Melbourne International Airport, Indian River Coffee Company puts national coffee chains to shame. This locally founded and operated coffee shop custom roasts its beans on-site, and is equipped with a drive-thru, so you can grab your coffee en route to your next destination.

  • The Blueberry Muffin

1130 Florida A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903

With about 14 flavors of muffins to choose from, The Blueberry Muffin is the perfect place to start your day. Grab a coffee and dig the local vibe of this quaint mom-and-pop-style café, which has been a local favorite for more than 30 years.

No matter what type of food you have in mind, Florida’s Space Coast offers unique dining choices to tempt your palettes. From oceanfront dining to locally owned restaurants, it may take a while to settle on one place, but you’ll be hard pressed not to find something you like. And these places are the local’s top recommendations:

  • Steve’s Family Diner

2900 S. Washington Ave., Titusville, FL 32780

According to one like, Steve’s Family Diner is “like eating at your grandma's if your grandma is a tremendous cook but not a great housekeeper. The food is delicious at a terrific value!” While the eatery may not look like much, locals — including Vice Mayor Walt Johnson — crave the laid-back atmosphere and comfort food, including the award-winning fried chicken.

  • Café Surfinista

86 N. Orlando Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

You know Café Sufinista is worth hitting up when 11-time world champion surfer — and Cocoa Beach local — Kelly Slater, makes it a point to stop by when in town. This veggie-friendly nook specializes in fresh, cold-pressed organic juices, smoothies, homemade pastries, organic coffee and light lunches. Better yet, everything is handmade from fresh ingredients, making it the perfect place re-charge after a long morning of adventures.

  • Dixie Crossroads

1475 Garden St., Titusville, FL 32796

Serving Florida’s finest seafood for more than 30 years, Dixie Crossroads is an iconic family-style eatery that’s known for its local, wild-caught shrimp and fish, steaks and southern classics, like corn fritters. The owner of the restaurant, local Laurilee Thompson, can often be seen dining there, and has great stories from her time as captain of a commercial shrimp boat out of Port Canaveral.

  • River Rocks

6485 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955

At River Rocks, the only thing that beats the gorgeous lagoon views is the food. With casual dining available outside on the Dock, and a more sophisticated experience available inside, the ambience is the best of both worlds! The view of the Indian River Lagoon is a favorite among locals, and the food is divine, especially the River Rocks salad.

  • Yellow Dog Café

905 U.S. Highway 1, Malabar, FL 32950
When it comes to fine dining, locals relish eating at the award-winning Yellow Dog Café. Overlooking the Indian River Lagoon in Malabar, the restaurant offers a complimentary valet, multiple dining rooms and a multi-level covered porch. We recommend trying the onion-crusted Mahi and the Caprese salad, which features tomatoes grown right across the street from the restaurant. But make sure you save room for one of the amazing desserts — all created by the on-site pastry chef.

If you’re looking for some amazing attractions, check these out:

  • Smash Golf
7032 Stadium Parkway, Viera, FL 32940

This tennis/golf hybrid is a “smash” with the locals! Head over to Duran Golf Club to learn about this unique sport, invented and patented by Brevard golf pro Daril Pacinella. The best part about Smash Golf? You don’t have to be a golf pro or tennis pro to have a smashing good time!
