Four people chatting and smiling under umbrellas on a rainy day

Plenty to do on a rainy day in Melbourne & the Beaches

A little rain won’t ruin your parade

You’ve arrived in style for your Space Coast getaway just to be greeted with a disappointing weather forecast. Most locals know that it can quite literally rain on one side of the road and not the other, so you do have to take the forecast with a grain of salt. But, should the weatherman be accurate in the latest prediction, there’s nothing to fret about here.

One of the many reasons why visiting the Space Coast is a prime spot is because you can not only enjoy beautiful tropical weather year-round, but when that tropical weather decides to literally rain on your parade, there are plenty of ways to have fun and enjoy your stay. No matter where you are staying on the Space Coast, heading over to Melbourne & the Beaches when it’s not so sunny will keep the rainy day blues away.

Rain, Rain Won’t Go Away

If you know the whole day is going to be a wet one, here are a few ways to spend the entire day inside but not feel like cabin fever is about to take over.

Adventure HQ

5270 N. US Highway 1, Palm Shores | (321) 775-9781

Stop by this indoor entertainment hub where you will experience a unique action-packed adventure. From escape rooms and bouldering to ninja courses and The Backyard where you can participate in lawn games and shuffleboard, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Even if that includes grabbing a bite to eat and watching all the action in their Chill Out Lounge.

Urban Air Adventure Park

6729 Colonnade Avenue, Suite 130, Melbourne | (321) 473-7290

New to the Space Coast, Urban Air Adventure Park in Viera is a one-stop shop for a day of fun and excitement for all ages. From indoor sky coasters and laser tag to climbing walls, bowling, and more trampolines than you can imagine, Urban Trampoline Park will keep you entertained the whole day. There’s even a café on site so you really can spend the entire time inside without having to step in and out of the wet weather.

Rain in the Morning

When the skies cry at sunrise, it doesn’t mean you have to as well. Here are some ways to keep dry until the rain clears.

Barrier Island Sanctuary Nature Center

8385 S. Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach | (321) 723-3556

The Barrier Island Sanctuary Nature Center, located on 34-acres, is an interactive exhibit where you can learn about the diverse natural habitats of Florida’s Space Coast, native sea turtles and other wildlife. Admission is free and by the time you are done exploring inside, the sun most likely will have come out to play so you can take your fun outside on the walking trails or spend time hanging out on the beach.

Painting with a Twist

702 E. New Haven Avenue, Melbourne | (321) 698-7928

No thinking required, just FUN!! Painting with a Twist in Downtown Melbourne will help you RELAX, UNCORK and ESCAPE as you enjoy an upbeat and simple step-by-step instructed class. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation and a newfound talent you’ll want to explore. Feel free to bring your own beer or wine to enjoy while creating your masterpiece. Unleash your inner Picasso! Registration is required.

Rain in the Evening

It gets hot here on the Space Coast and sometimes the area just needs to cool off, so when it looks like it’s going to shower in the evening, check out a few of these places to spend your evening.

The Gathering Table

318 E. New Haven Avenue, Melbourne | (321) 345-1965

The Gathering Table is Downtown Melbourne's first intimate, interactive dining experience. The recreational cooking classes are designed for anyone who enjoys cooking, eating, entertaining or just has a passion for food. Whether you are hoping to learn some new skills, pick up some fresh ideas or just have a fun night out together, you are bound to find something you love from their list of innovative cooking classes.

Get Fired Up

536 E. New Haven Avenue, Melbourne | (321) 729-0222

This paint-it-yourself studio is just the place to keep dry at the end of an already fun day on the Space Coast. Pick out your piece of pottery from over 400 pieces both large and small, choose your colors, and then paint away. Pick up your newly fired up creation a few days later for a true original piece of art to take home as a souvenir.
