Destinations to visit when you vacation to Cocoa Beach

So…you’ve made your decision to come spend your vacation in Cocoa Beach (a wise choice if we don’t say so ourselves) and you can’t help but think about all the time you’ll spend soaking up the sun, making sand castles, catching waves, enjoying sunset strolls down the beach, and sighing nice and big as you breath in the warm salty sea air. Ah…life is good.

Then one morning you wake up and decide you want to venture out to see what can be explored and experienced in a day, but scratch your head because you’re not too sure where to even begin.

Florida’s Space Coast has plenty to discover, with little hidden gems all across the 72 miles (from north to south) stretch that make up our beautiful area. With historic landmarks and local art districts to fishing and zip-lining, and even good ol’ Mickey Mouse, although located just outside our little area, we have fun little day trips for you to enjoy when you want to take in more than just our famous beaches. We have highlighted a few ideas to help get you started.

Titusville:

Home to Kennedy Space Center, the Warbird Museum, the Police Hall of Fame, the American Space Museum, and the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, there are plenty of ways to experience pieces of history or explore the peaceful wildlife habitat.

Melbourne & the Beaches:

Home to the Eau Gallie Arts District, the Barrier Island Sanctuary, and Sebastian Inlet, more wildlife and beaches to enjoy and for those with a flair for the arts, spending the day here is well worth the trip down from Cocoa Beach.

Palm Bay:

Home to Fishing at the Stick Marsh, air-boating at Camp Holly, and Larsen Motorsports, there are plenty of options for the outdoor, fisher, and thrill seeker individuals looking to have a good time.

Viera:

Home to the Brevard Zoo, the fun and challenging Treetop Trek, and outdoor shopping, this is a great way to spend the day away from the beach and enjoy the diversity of the area, with food and fun for all ages.

Orlando:

And we can’t forget to add that Cocoa Beach is just a little over an hour away from both Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, so it would be remiss on our part if we didn’t remind you that you can easily access the fantasy worlds they offer and enjoy your day there. But come back to your little “home away from home” getaway so you can wake up refreshed to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the ocean breeze whistling through the palm trees.
