8 Ways to Keep Cool in Cocoa Beach this Summer

Summer on Florida’s Space Coast is absolutely beautiful – and can be incredibly hot. While your itinerary for your vacation may have a lot of outdoor activities listed, you should definitely consider adding some indoor activities to give you a break from the intense Florida Sun. Luckily, Cocoa Beach isn’t short on fun adventures that come with air conditioning.

Here are 8 ways to keep you and your family cool in Cocoa Beach this summer:

1. Keep Cool at the Beach

We know a vacation to Cocoa Beach isn’t complete without spending some time at the beach. So, if you’re planning a day beachside, be prepared to handle the heat. Bring a beach umbrella for some shade and a cooler stocked with cold drinks to stay hydrated.

A great way to keep cool on Cocoa Beach is to find a spot of sand near the Historic Cocoa Beach Pier. You can take shade under the boardwalk or even rent a chair and umbrella from the pier itself. Plus, the pier has plenty of restaurants to cool off in, public showers, and cold treats for the kids (or adults! Pina Colada anyone?)

2. Head to the Museum of Dinosaurs and Ancient Cultures

Opening April 22, this brand-new Cocoa Beach attraction is located on the second and third floors of the Dinosaur Store. You and the kids can check out huge dinosaur skeleton exhibits or even see King Tut’s tomb. Dive into history at this new and fascinating Cocoa Beach museum.

3. Boat & Nature Tour

Let the breeze cool you down as you search for wildlife on a boat and nature tour with Island Boat Lines. Keep an eye out for dolphins, manatees and a wide variety of coastal birds with the help of your guide, a USCG Certified Captain and Professional Naturalist.

4. Splash in the Fountains at Cocoa Village

Located at Cocoa Riverfront Park, the kids will love playing in the splash fountains after a day in Cocoa Village. It’ll be a great change of scenery where the kids can run and play. Also, make sure to check out the nearby shops and restaurants in the village.

5. Shopping at Cocoa Beach Surf Co.

Shop ‘til you drop at Cocoa Beach Surf Company – the world’s largest surf complex. You can browse the latest beachwear, footwear and clothing for you and the kids. Dine at the Shark Pit Bar & Grill and while you wait for your food, you can watch the sharks and exotic fish swim in the shop’s 5,600-gallon tank.

6. Exploration Tower

Head to Port Canaveral and explore seven stories of air-conditioned, interactive fun at the Exploration Tower. The tower has something for everyone with unique exhibits, a café, indoor and outdoor observation decks, a gift shop and much more. Learn about nature, space exploration or even watch a live rocket launch!

7. Oasis Shaved Ice

Cool off and enjoy a tasty frozen treat at Oasis in Downtown Cocoa Beach. You can satisfy your sweet tooth and try their delicious ice cream, frozen yogurt or their famous shaved ice. With over 40 flavors to choose from, there is something for everyone.

8. Adventure HQ

Spend a day at the action-packed Adventure HQ. Although it’s not technically located in Cocoa Beach, this facility is bursting with fun for the whole family. Over 32,000 square-feet, Adventure HQ is full of rock walls and exciting, interactive climbing challenges.
