3 Ways to Help Florida’s Space Coast Post Hurricane Irma

No storm can dull our shine here on Florida’s Space Coast! Hurricane Irma made landfall in south Florida on September 10, 2017. Although the storm made its arrival hundreds of miles southwest of the Space Coast, our 72 miles of coastline did get impacted from the storm. Thankfully, the impact was minor and many of our restaurants, attractions and hotels are open for business…and for fun!

Both past and future visitors have been asking how they can help Florida’s Space Coast recover from Irma. Do you want to help our area bounce back? Here’s a few ways you can help with Irma relief efforts:

1) Support Our Local Businesses

By supporting our local businesses, you are helping Space Coast businesses and local hospitality team members directly. Whether you purchase a meal for an emergency worker, buy gift cards for future visits, or start your holiday shopping now, you can make a positive impact on those effected by Irma here on the Space Coast.

Perhaps you have a friend or relative that lives on the Space Coast. Consider getting them a “Thinking of You” gift card to their favorite restaurant at The Cove or in our historic downtown districts. Or do you have a favorite attraction you can purchase something from for yourself or as Christmas gift? Contact them directly and make a purchase to support the Space Coast community.

2) Take a Vacation

Yes, you read that right! We’ve watched the same national news as you, and it’s easy to assume that all of Florida is closed right now. However, that’s far from the truth! Our coast is clear, and it’s time to experience a sun surge. The majority of our hotels are open and ready to host you. Plus, attractions like Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, the Museum of Dinosaurs and Ancient Cultures, Brevard Zoo, Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier and many more are open.

There’s plenty of rest and relaxation taking place here too. Kick off your beach vacation strolling down our beaches, or dine waterside at The Cove and watch the cruise ships depart to sea. You’ll find upon visiting that our area has barely skipped a beat, and we can’t wait to welcome you!

Seriously, grab your flip flops and vacation for good. Because when you soak up the fun on Florida’s Space Coast, you’re helping revive our local economy. Talk about a win-win!
