Soon Florida's Space Coast will host both Thunder on Cocoa Beach and the Space Coast Air Show in Titusville. While these two events are cause for a vacation on their own, there's also a launch attempt looming! This is a weekend of Space, Sea, and Sky that we can all get excited about. Read on to learn more about each event and plan out the perfect power weekend on the Space Coast.
May 19: Launch Attempt Alert
At 6:54 pm a ULA Atlas V is scheduled to launch from the Space Coast. This launch is very special because atop this Atlas V is the Boeing CST-100 Starliner spacecraft. This will be the 2nd orbital test flight of the crew-worthy capsule that will dock at the ISS. Keep up to date with this launch on SpaceCoastLaunches.com.
May 19 -22 Thunder on Cocoa Beach
There's nothing quite as exciting as experiencing Thunder on Cocoa Beach! This highly-anticipated boat race will bring more than 64 high-octane powerboats to the Space Coast this year. From Coconuts on the Beach to the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier, you'll be able to see these boats reach speeds of 200 mph. Racing takes place Saturday and Sunday. But Cocoa Beach will be abuzz with action all weekend. Check out the kick-off party on Thursday, the Block Party on Friday, and the Generation Radio Concert at Lori Wilson Park on Saturday. While you will be able to watch these races for free on the beach if you'd like a VIP experience you can purchase ticket packages on their website. May 21-22 Space Coast Air Show
AirDot Show is capping off their time in Florida on the Space Coast! This year’s display will take place at the Space Coast Regional Airport located near the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Titusville, and is sure to be an incredible display of both air and space - past, present, and future!
