3 Reasons Why Your Orlando Vacation Should Include Cocoa Beach
Head home relaxed with a stop in Cocoa Beach
Orlando is one of the top vacation destinations in the world and rightfully so. With Walt Disney World and its new Star Wars and Toy Story lands to Universal Studios and an entire section dedicated to all things Harry Potter, it’s no wonder guests from all over the world plan to visit this hot spot, at least once, for a fun getaway. But one of the many “traps” that guests get pulled into is staying in Orlando the entire time because of time constraints or not knowing what else is nearby.
To help you plan your Orlando vacation and make sure you get the most of your time, here are three reasons why you should consider adding Cocoa Beach to your getaway.
Cocoa Beach is Orlando’s Closest Beach
Cocoa Beach is located within an hour of most major areas of Orlando and a convenient 45-minute straight shot east from the Orlando International Airport. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of crowds and hit the relax button in Cocoa Beach. Enjoy authentic beaches instead of the make-believe ones you may have already experienced at the water parks and take in the sights, sounds, salty sea air, and beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Cocoa Beach Pier has the convenience of food, fun, and outdoor showers. The beaches down the side streets aren’t as packed if you’re looking for something more serene. Lori Wilson Park has covered pavilions, volleyball nets, playgrounds, and grills to make this a fun and relaxing day.
After a few days at the theme parks, you’ll be happy to breathe in some fresh air and feel the ocean breeze. And when you visit Cocoa Beach, you get that authentic beachy vibe as you trade days of fantasy for authentic, family-fun experiences.
Head over to Cocoa Beach Aerial Adventures for a birds’ eye view of Cocoa Beach or Lighthouse Cove for a round of putt-putt golf. The Dinosaur Store is perfect for all of you who love a bit of history, or over to Ron Jons “One of a Kind” beach shop and the Florida Surf Museum. Take a family photo with Cocoa Beach’s own pro-surfer Kelly Slater (well a statue of him anyways) or work together to break out of the locked room at Escape Cocoa Beach. These are just a few things you can do to have authentic experiences.
And speaking of authentic, when you spend time in Cocoa Beach, you’ll also be taking a break from all the theme park foods and enjoy freshly-caught Atlantic seafood. Places like The Fat Snook, Florida Fresh Grill (for a date with your special someone) or The Cove, which is located at Port Canaveral, are just a few of the restaurants you can choose from for fresh seafood.
Enjoy other unique flavors from Mexican to Cuban to Irish, German, Italian and so much more that will send your taste buds soaring.
If you haven’t booked your Orlando theme-park, action-packed vacation yet and even if you have, it costs a pretty penny to have a week full of fun and memory-making. But when you visit Cocoa Beach, there are many free things to do, and the cost of hotels or other places to stay and food is significantly cheaper, helping you save overall when you add a stop here.
As you enjoy your time in Orlando, consider adding a stop for a day or two in Cocoa Beach, if you aren’t already convinced. Then you can head back home relaxed instead of amped from all the fun you had from your action-packed days at the theme parks.
