Holiday fun on the Space Coast
It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! Every year the Space Coast proudly hosts holiday events for you, your family and friends, and this year is no exception. The holiday-themed and fun-filled events over the next couple of months will bring joy and laughter and plenty of memory-making opportunities if you plan for a visit to the Space Coast. Hint, hint…you may want to go ahead and start planning NOW because you don’t want to miss out on these events this season.
Space Coast Festival of Trees | Viera | November 23, 2019 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This is the South Brevard’s Junior League of America’s 35th annual event that has been a favorite to attend! Walk down Christmas Lane as you admire the creativity of decorated trees and wreaths from talented designers. And if you find one that that you absolutely adore, then place a bid via the silent auction and see if you come out a winner. Other vendors are available as well making it perfect for some early holiday shopping. Make sure you pre-register your kids for the Cooking with Mrs. Claus event where you and your young chefs get to enjoy tasty and healthy holiday treats.
Space Coast Turkey Trot 5K & 10K | Melbourne | November 28, 2019 | 7:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.
What better way to prep for Thanksgiving dinner than by burning some calories before the big meal? Bring the whole family for a fun morning where dressing up festive is highly encouraged. With prizes for the best Thanksgiving-themed costume, here’s your chance to get creative! Additional race challenges give you a chance to win a free pumpkin pie or a gift card to local grocery chain, Publix. Sign up for one of those challenges for your chance to win! Once you cross the finish line, you’ll be ready to gobble up that stuffed turkey waiting for you back at home.
Light Up Viera | Viera | November 30, 2019 | 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
The 7th Annual Light Up Viera Holiday Parade is a local favorite event for all ages with fireworks kicking off at 6 p.m. Plan to get there early to find the best spot or check out the parade map here. There will be food trucks available and don’t forget to stop by the Santa letter writing station to get those last requests in. This is a fun way to kick off the holiday season on Florida’s Space Coast!
Space Coast Light Fest | Melbourne | November 18, 2019-January 1, 2020 | 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Mesmerize your eyes with over 3 million twinkling holiday lights and animated displays as you drive through Wickham Park for a virtual winter wonderland. This 1-mile drive is another favorite among locals and visitors alike, so tune into local station Lite Rock 99.3 FM for your holiday tunes and drive through the light fest as many times as you’d like. Plus, if you bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots, you’ll get a discount at the gate.
Merritt Island Boat Parade | Merritt Island | December 7, 2019 | 6 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
Blue Marlin Realty and Stingray Boats bring you a light show on the water with the annual Merritt Island Boat Parade. Watch the boats motor through Sykes Creek or bring your boat and get in on the holiday festivities.
Cocoa Beach Boat Parade | Cocoa Beach | December 14, 2019 | 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Starting at Marker 101 near Centennial Park on State Road 520, enjoy the lights flickering off of the water and the creative displays on the boats as they cruise by. For a list of places to get the best views, click here.
Surfing Santas | Cocoa Beach | December 24, 2019 | 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
You know what’s better than seeing Santa Claus before Christmas? Seeing hundreds of them as they surf the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The 11th Annual Surfing Santas event is yet another local and visitor favorite. Watch these Santas shred, cozy up to some of the elves, or dress up yourself to partake in the fun with cash prizes with a grand prize being a Surfing Santas Surfboard!
