A natural choice for residents and visitors.
Viera, a master-planned community centrally located along I-95, has become the epicenter of County government as well as residential and commercial activity on Florida’s Space Coast. Development began in 1989 with a focus on enhancing the quality of life – now benefiting locals and visitors alike.
With vast new neighborhoods, Viera is the place to live in Brevard for retirees, young professionals and young families. The community also has become a must-see for visitors to the Space Coast for its shopping, sports venues, bird watching and the world-class Brevard Zoo.
The wild kingdom is on display at Brevard Zoo located on 75 acres on the East side of I-95 at the Wickham Road exit.
The zoo is home to more than 600 animals representing 165 species located in Florida, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. A growing number of extraordinary animal experiences include kayaking through zebra, giraffe, and rhino exhibits. Above the zoo is the Treetop Trek, a challenge course featuring fun obstacles and exhilarating zip lines, including one over live alligators and crocodiles.
Sports central on the Space Coast.
Viera is home to the Space Coast Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Washington Nationals Baseball Team and the regular season home of the minor league Brevard County Manatees. The stadium opened in 1994 and sits on land contributed by The Viera Company. It can seat as many as 8,100 fans, with a 404-foot centerfield wall and 340 feet in right and left field.
The largest recreational center is Viera Regional Park, located on 125 acres with eight acres of lakes, has a community center, a fully equipped playground, three tot lots, and fields for baseball, soccer and tennis.
Shopping in style.
The Avenue Viera is an open-air, pedestrian friendly shopping destination featuring premier national retailers, select local merchants and specialty restaurants. The shopping complex holds more than 100 nationally-known restaurants and stores as well as a multiplex movie theater. This retail center is growing so fast that visitors should plan to stop by during their next visit to see what stores have been added.
Get a bird’s eye view of nature.
Furthest west heading toward the St. Johns River are the world-renowned birding ponds at the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands of Viera. A celebrated ‘green’ idea for advanced water treatment, the artificial wetlands help the environment as each year it attracts thousands of visitors from around the world to see a huge array of local and migratory birds and other wildlife. Visitors can walk around the ponds and the wetlands also feature pavilions and elevated observation towers.
