Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions concerning your travel at the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport. We have broken them down into several sections: Airport Information, Flight Information, Security, Assistance, and Pets.

Airport Information

  • What are the airport’s operating hours?
The airport’s main terminal opens two hours before the first flight is scheduled and remains open up to an hour after the last flight arrives.
  • Is there a restaurant in the airport?
The Runway Grille is a full-service, deli-style restaurant and bar located in the atrium of the terminal. Salads, sandwiches and hot meals are served as well as beverages and spirits. Beyond the security checkpoint (for ticketed passengers only), beverages, spirits and snacks can be purchased at the Gate 1 Bar and Café. Hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, or until the last flight of the day departs.
  • Where are restrooms located at the airport?
Restrooms are located off the main atrium between ticketing and the Runway Grille, in the concourse and in the baggage-claim area. The ticketing and baggage-claim restrooms include separate family restrooms with diaper-changing facilities and other family care amenities.
  • What ground transportation is available at the airport?
MLB is served by Avis, Hertz, National and Budget, as well as an airport shuttle, and taxi and limousine services. All are located within steps of the airport’s baggage-claim area. In addition, a Greyhound Lines’ bus terminal is located at the airport near baggage claim, and local bus service (Space Coast Area Transit) stops at the airport several times a day. For more information on routes and schedules, go to http://www.ridescat.com or call 321-633-1878.

Airlines and the TSA recommend arriving at least one hour before domestic flights, two hours before international flights.
  • What can I bring on the plane?
As a general guideline, most liquids in your carry-on bag cannot exceed 3.4 ounces in each container and all must be placed in a single, one-quart plastic bag. For further details and current TSA guidelines, visit www.tsa.gov and click on "For Travelers". Look for "What To Know Before You Go". Or call 866-289-9673 for further assistance.

Airline and airfare information is available directly through the airlines or your local travel agent.

Current flight information is available on this website through FlightTracker. Flight details also are posted on the display screens located throughout the airport.
  • What if I’ve lost something on the plane?
For items left on a plane, please contact your airline directly.

Security

  • What form of identification is needed at airport security?
The TSA requires a federal or state-issued photo ID that includes the holder’s name, date of birth, gender, ID expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature for all ticketed passengers 18 years or older to clear security screening. International travelers must present a valid, government-issued passport.
  • Does my child need identification?
TSA does not require travelers under 18 to present identification. However, airlines may have different requirements. Check directly with the airline to determine if identification is needed for a child. Also, a government-issued passport is required for all international travel. For more information, visit www.tsa.gov.

Assistance

  • Does the airport offer assistance with handling luggage?
Yes, and with a smile! Our Passenger Service Agents can provide assistance and be easily identified in their red shirts by the drop-off curb. If you do not see a Passenger Service Agent nearby, your airline can contact one for you.
  • Is assistance available for elderly or disabled passengers?
Melbourne International is fully handicap-accessible. For assistance within the main terminal, contact one of the airport’s Passenger Service Agents. A TTY phone for hearing- or speech-impaired travelers is available at the airport police office in the terminal. For specific needs during flights, contact your airline directly.
  • Who do I contact for assistance regarding under-age travelers?
The airline ticketing agent or a Passenger Service Agent can provide assistance to minors traveling without adult supervision.
  • Are wheelchairs available?
Yes. Just ask your airline ticketing agent or one of our Passenger Service Agents to assist you with your request.

Pets
