Coconut Point Sanctuary is a 62-acre habitat of coastal strand, oak scrub, coastal oak forest, and mangrove forest located in Melbourne Beach, FL.   Encompassing, ancient sand dunes from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian River Lagoon, Coconut Point Sanctuary was once inhabited by Ais Indians- And according to local lore, Juan Ponce de Leon also set foot in the same location in 1513. Today, Coconut Point Sanctuary is also nature lovers' dream with a short hiking trail that contains an observation platform over the Indian River Lagoon. Its an ideal spot to view shorebirds, juvenile sea turtle, osprey, and maybe even a pod of dolphin.
