Take a trip to the exotic world of One Thousand and One Nights with your Space Coast Symphony. This multimedia event opens up with Philip Glass’ The Light. Written in 1987 to commemorate a scientific experiment that heralded the transition from 19th century physics to modern research, The Light is a musical portrait of the scientists Michelson and Morley, and an homage to their historic work. Your SCSO partners with Ninjaneer Studios to make history as they collaborate on the East Coast Premiere of James Newton Howard’s I Would Plant a Tree. Ninjaneer studios will turn the auditorium into a 3D immersive environment as the musicians perform Howard’s stunning work. Rimsky-Korsakov’s glittering showpiece Scheherazade transports you to the exotic time and place of The Arabian Nights. To save her life, the heroine entertains her husband with nightly tales of shipwrecks, thieves, and royals. Sensuous, shimmering, and stormy — it’s a thrilling musical adventure and one of the most colorful works in all of music.
