The Lifelong Scholar Society, at Florida Tech, hosts a series of lectures and workshops every year that is open to the public.
About the Lecture:
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a divisive topic in our society, often eliciting extreme responses from people either in support or opposition. However, most of us do not really understand how these products differ from traditional breeding, their potential benefits or the concerns held by some researchers. Tonight we will discuss the techniques behind GMO production, dispel some commonly held misconceptions and envision the future of our world’s agricultural programs.
