With 2016 quickly coming to a close, now’s the perfect time to plan for the coming year. And what better way to do that than by compiling a bucket list of the best activities on Florida’s Space Coast?

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to have a lot of fun on Florida’s Space Coast by doing the following:

  1. View a rocket launch

Whether it’s from the sandy shore, the Cocoa pier, or one of the many parks along Florida’s Space Coast, you’ll have plenty of options on where to see a launch.

  1. Watch baby sea turtles hatch

Hosted by The Sea Turtle Preservation Society, take a walk to see the sea turtle nests and hatchings along the beach. Learn about the amazing animals and how to protect them.

  1. Support the arts and see a play, musical or concert

See an entertaining and high-quality production at the Cocoa Village or Titusville Playhouse.

  1. Take a kayak tour to see the bioluminescence

Enjoy a magical nighttime kayak trip during the summer months and see the waters of the Indian River, Banana River and Mosquito Lagoon glow and light up from the marine plankton that light up.

  1. Enjoy a craft brew

There are plenty of great places to try unique local beers along Florida’s Space Coast. Try out Playalinda Brewing Company, Florida Beer Company, Hell n' Blazes Brewing Co., Cocoa Beach Brewing Company and more.

  1. Attend the Beach ’N Boards Fest

Bring the family to Cocoa Beach for the Beach ‘N Boards Fest, March 10 – 12, to enjoy live music and watch every type of boarding sport under the sun.

  1. Run a marathon

Run riverside, beach side, or through the trails on Florida’s Space Coast during any one of the running events throughout the year such as: Cocoa Beach Half Marathon, U.S.A. Beach Running Championship, and the Space Coast Marathon.

  1. Visit the Brevard Zoo

The Brevard Zoo is home to more than 650 animal species and offers fun adventures for the whole family. Kayak next to the giraffes and then pull ashore on Lemur Island and make some new furry friends.

  1. Learn how to surf

Make 2017 the year you learn how to shred the waves. Group and private lessons are available at surf schools at Ron Jon Surf Shop and Cocoa Beach Surf Company.

  1.  Explore charming and historic downtowns

Titusville, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Eau Gallie and Melbourne are all home to quaint, historic downtown areas. All of these districts are great destinations for dining, shopping, perusing art galleries or just taking an afternoon stroll.

  1.  Visit the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Get up close to Space Shuttle Atlantis, experience the drama of a spaceflight simulator, or meet and dine with astronauts at the Kennedy Space Center – where U.S. space exploration began.

  1.  Take an airboat ride

Glide across the marshes and look out for wildlife during one of the airboat tours along Florida’s Space Coast.

  1.  Dine in Space Coast style

No matter what type of food you like, Florida’s Space Coast has more than 1,400 restaurants to satisfy your taste buds. Try rock shrimp at Dixie Crossroads or dine at Coconuts on the Beach ­– it’s literally right on the beach.

  1.  Reel in all kinds of fish

Florida’s Space Coast offers great fishing year-round – from deep sea fishing in Port Canaveral to Stick Marsh in Palm Bay you can catch more than 500 species of fish.

  1.  Hike and bike Space Coast nature trails

Time to get outdoors and back to nature in 2017. Hike, bike and watch wildlife along trails such as the Grapefruit Bike Trail, the Enchanted Forest and more.

  1.  Skydive over the Space Coast

Experience the thrill of freefalling over the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, and the beaches. Skydive Space Center offers the world’s highest tandem jump, giving you an incredibly view of the entire coast — from 18,000 feet above the ground.

  1. Take a stroll down Cocoa Beach and Visit the Pier

This world-famous pier stretches 800 feet over the Atlantic Ocean and has five restaurants, four bars and live entertainment for you and the family to enjoy.

  1. Catch a cruise out of Port Canaveral

Treat yourself to a relaxing getaway in 2017. Sail out of Port Canaveral on one of the industry’s top cruise lines and head to the Bahamas and Caribbean.

  1. Play a game of Smash Golf

A combination of golf and tennis, this game is a local favorite. Head out to Duran Golf Club in Viera or Turtle Creek Golf in Rockledge to learn how to play!

  1. Shop ’til you drop at the Ron Jon Surf Shop

Visit the shop at Larsen Motorsports and see the all new Jet Technology Center, which walks fans through what it takes to engineer, design and paint professional race cars.
