There’s one Thanksgiving tradition on Florida’s Space Coast that is dear to many – The Space Coast Art Festival. Now in its 52nd year, this year’s festival takes place November 28 – 29, 2015 at the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral and features over 240 artists from the United States. Their unique pieces of art, as well as the live entertainment and the Food Truck Bazaar, make this a weekend to remember on Florida’s Space Coast.

What started out as a sidewalk art show in 1963 has evolved into one of Florida’s most prestigious art festivals. The Space Coast Art Festival attracts over 50,000 visitors, and the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral offers spacious accommodations allowing the walkways to flow and be more accessible.

Over the years, multiple additions have contributed to the festival’s continued success in addition to the community’s support. Expect to see many of these additions this year including:

  • Turkey Trot 5K – Taking place on Thanksgiving morning in Cocoa Beach, the Turkey Trot 5K is a road race for both runners and walkers. This holiday tradition in Cocoa Beach helps kick off the Space Coast Art Festival and benefits the Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School cross-country and track teams. To sign up, click here.
  • Student Art Show - All Brevard County students are welcome to participate in the student art show. You will see works of art like paintings, sculptures, and computer graphics from students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students will also have the chance to win awards, which will be presented on Saturday, November 28 at 2:15 p.m.
  • Entertainment - With bands like The Willies, Hot Pink, and Delgado, you don’t want to miss the entertainment on both Saturday and Sunday at the Space Coast Art Festival. Live entertainment starts on Saturday, November 28 at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday, November 29 at 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

No matter what your Thanksgiving weekend plans may include, be sure to check out The Space Coast Art Festival for unique gifts and a memorable day on Florida’s Space Coast. To see what else is taking place during your visit, be sure to check out our events page.
