Playtime isn’t just for kids
Fall is here and winter is looming right around the corner, which means the air is a bit chillier and for some of you, this is the time of year where plans to migrate south are just about, if not already, on the horizon. With an average temperature around the mid 70’s, Florida’s Space Coast is a top getaway spot for those of you from up north. Besides the obvious reason to visit in order to escape the cold, did you know that this area is one of the top places to either have a second home or retire to? So for those of you, who are on the cusp of living your best life, keep reading to find out what the Space Coast has to offer and why playtime isn’t just for kids.
First, getting to the pristine beaches and historical downtown areas the Space Coast is known for, there are many options that bring you directly to or provide scenic routes that take less than a day’s drive. For those of you who are jet setters, you will want to choose the Orlando-Melbourne International Airport (MLB) as your destination spot. Flying into Melbourne lands you smack dab in one of the area’s top locations for fine dining and the arts. With direct flights from Atlanta and Philadelphia (coming soon in February 2019), escaping the colder weather has never been easier. Make sure you mark this airport as a favorite for future visits.
For those that prefer traveling by car, taking pit stops along the way, locations that are within a day’s drive go as far north as Charlotte, North Carolina or as west as Mobile, Alabama. Jacksonville, Tampa, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami are within 3-4 hours, so getting to the Space Coast is a lot easier than people realize. And as you drive through the traffic of the cities just mentioned, you’ll find another reason why this area is a great place to getaway because it’s always like summertime here, where the living is easy.
Great Selection of Accommodations
Second, finding the right accommodations for your stay here all depends on the kind of environment you’re wanting. Waking up to the sounds of the waves washing up on the shore, or maybe a cozy type of cottage in one of the historic downtown areas, or say you need to have access to the business corridor for a few last minute deals that were on the table before you skipped town, no matter what or where you fancy, there is a place for you, from small boutique properties, bed and breakfast options, and top hotel chains.
Endless Opportunities for Fun
Last, the Space Coast has so much to discover in the 72-mile stretch that make up the area. From the north to the south, from the east to the west, experiencing the beauty this area has to offer is around every corner. Whether looking for a spot to catch up on a good book, outdoors activities to maintain your youthfulness, or wanting to wine and dine with your special someone or others, there are plenty of things to do while you are in town.
Here is a list of some ways to enjoy the area:

It is a great little escape from the beach without having to go too far. An easy drive from the beaches along the south part of the coast, Historic Downtown Melbourne is worth spending the whole day perusing the quaint shops and also enjoying the newly added wall art murals that line the streets.

And for those of you who have more flexibility in your schedule and can stay for a few weeks or even months, enjoy the break from the cold as you live your best life here on the Space Coast.
