The 4th Annual Thunder on Cocoa Beach is only a week away and race organizers have released both the schedule and racing course for the four-day beachside event.

New Picture (2)Race course will run between Cocoa Beach Pier and Lori Wilson Park.

This year, race boat fans should expect to see some of the most recognized and professional offshore teams competing in offshore racing on iconic Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Teams will arrive on Thursday, May 16 and will set their boats up for a public parade in Port Canaveral. This kick-off event will also feature a meet and greet with racers. Besides daily tests and the actual race on Sunday, other events for the Grand Prix include a street festival and VIP party.

Plan on watching the races offshore? Please be mindful that the Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix takes place during the middle of the sea turtle mating season. Sea Turtle Preservation Society spokesman Roger Pszonowsky isn't worried about the speed boats competing since they are required to follow Federal regulations, but rather the hundreds of personal boats expected in the water to watch the race.

"If you see a sea turtle while operating your personal boat, throttle down, slow down, and protect your passengers and the wildlife."
