Skyrockets at night and other afternoon delights

Fourth of July… the holiday where independence is celebrated, streaming colors of red, white, and blue flood the area, skyrockets flying at night, and is what many consider the mark that summer is in full force. And a prime spot for holiday activities and events is right here on Florida’s Space Coast.

Cocoa Beach is one of the top summer vacation hotspots, and this Fourth of July is no different. With pristine beaches, easy walking or driving distances to area restaurants and things to do, your time here will be full of fun and relaxation. The fourth falls on a Thursday this year, so in order to make the most of the holiday, it’s best to plan for a whole week on the Space Coast.

Here are some suggestions as to how to plan your time here:

Pre 4th of July Activities

Once you’ve arrived and settled in, relaxing is one of the top priorities as you get ready for a fun week ahead. Now that may look different for each person, but here are a few ways to do that.

  • Bargain shopping: Area stores and boutiques offer some of the best sales this time of the year, and there are many places you can peruse and find that perfect deal.
  • An evening under the stars: Spend the evening with a stroll under the stars, the warm water and sand on your feet by heading to the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier. Head over there early for some food and a sunset view and a drink of choice for a beautiful evening out.
  • Shake off those travel legs and go play: There are plenty of things to do in Cocoa Beach and the surrounding areas, so why not start right away? Having fun is a great way to let go of all that it took to get you here!

By now you’ve successfully pre-gamed the Fourth of July, but now you’re ready to really celebrate!  And there’s no better way to celebrate than with three nights of fireworks. But where? Here are a few events happening in Cocoa Beach and the surrounding area that won’t disappoint.

Smoke on the Water & Fire in the Sky

The Cocoa Beach area knows how to celebrate the Fourth of July with Smoke on the Water & Fire in the Sky. This three-day celebration takes place over three nights in Port Canaveral, Cocoa Beach and Cocoa Village. There’s no other place giving you this much celebration back-to-back this July. Check the days and times at each location below and make sure you are settled in at least 20-30 minutes prior to the start of the fireworks so you don’t miss any of the action. Start times below are for pre-fireworks fun.

The whole family will have a blast celebrating the Fourth of July at the Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village. Enjoy family fun, food, and a live performance from the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
