The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association recently named the Space Coast's North Reach beaches, which includes the Cities of Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, extends 9.4 miles between Jetty Park and Patrick AFB, the winner of their 2014 Best Restored Beach Award.
Restoration efforts backed by the Space Coast Office of Tourism (SCOT) proved highly successful and exceeded expectations. The restoration helped to turn a shoreline of seawalls and rock revetments into the widest in the state of Florida The estimated annual $1.6 billion economic impact by Brevard's beach related tourism greatly exceeds the restoration costs because healthy beaches are essential to Brevard's tourism based economy.

The Space Coast Office of Tourism dedicated a portion of the bed tax (collected from hotels and motels) to fund the local cost share of most County beach management projects.
