A dim-lighted pub with miscellaneous photos hung around the walls and filled with happy people with friendly faces is the perfect destination for a pint of Guinness. The bartender makes the first pour about halfway full, only to let the foam settle in order to complete the pour all the way to the top of the glass. You let the foam settle for another five minutes only to enjoy the cold, refreshing beer while sitting on a barstool at a faded wooden bar. The bar feels familiar, though you’ve never been in it before. Is this a luxury you can only enjoy in Ireland? Not at all. In fact, there are several destinations on Florida’s Space Coast to enjoy an authentic Irish experience during the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
Nolan’s flagship location in Ireland has been open for over 85 years with a rich Irish history, which means Nolan’s in Cocoa Beach knows how to create a true Irish pub experience. Their customers are loyal, their drinks are cold, and the atmosphere is fun. Regulars and tourists alike come to join them for a pint and to watch a rugby match or two (seeing as they are the only pub on Florida’s Space Coast to show live rugby matches from Ireland and Europe) throughout the year, but St. Patrick’s Day is an extra special time of year for the Nolan’s Pub family.
People donned in green flood the streets to hear the live music of Florida's Space Coast’s very own rock band, Hot Pink, while enjoying a green beer on the side street directly adjacent to Nolan’s Pub. Not only are people coming out to enjoy the music and libations, but families come out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with face painting and balloons. The street will be lined with vendors, merchandise, and entertainment directly from the UK and Ireland.
“We are a family run traditional Irish pub in Cocoa Beach offering an authentic experience like you'd find back in Ireland,” says owner, Frank DiBello. “We are very fortunate to have great support from the city of Cocoa Beach in running this event.”
Join the Nolan’s Pub family and others for the perfect pint on St. Patrick’s Day in Cocoa Beach during a three-day festival from March 17th to March 19th that will be as fun for grandma as it is for your five-year-old son.
It’s been years since Linda and Ken Arnold of Melbourne enjoyed their St. Patrick’s Day at home with a glass full of Jameson because they now head out to downtown Melbourne to experience St. Patrick’s Day at its best at Meg O'Malleys street festival. Another sea of green cloaks the streets on Saturday, March 12 and Thursday, March 17. They start St. Patrick’s Day off right at 8 a.m. at Meg O’Malley’s with a traditional Irish breakfast, and stay for the day for amazing live music, traditional Irish entertainment like bagpipes, and Irish step dancers.
If a St. Patrick’s Day parade is what you’re looking for, then come out on Saturday, March 12, to downtown Melbourne at 11 a.m. for an unforgettable experience that is unlike anything on Florida’s Space Coast. If the night is more your scene, then enjoy live music on the several stages set up on the street with bands such as U2 Nation and Donovon Frankenreiter. Music, green beer, entertainment, and more vendors, coupled with the cozy downtown Melbourne backdrop, will make for an unforgettable experience.
You don’t need to jump on a plane and travel hours to Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the right way. Florida’s Space Coast will help you shamROCK your socks off with fun for the whole family. Don’t miss out!
