Guten tag!!

The annual beer fest, more commonly known as Oktoberfest, is kicking off this month and like years previous, there are many different ways to experience a taste of the German Volkfest along Florida’s Space Coast. With the rise in microbreweries and interest in craft beers, what better time than now to come plan a visit and go beer-hopping to sample some of the coast’s craftiest beers around. And to make the Florida’s Space Coast your destination of choice to experience local beers this Oktoberfest, we are highlighting and mapping out your own beer tour.

Stop 1:

Playalinda Brewery (Hardware Store Location):  Located in Titusville, Playalinda Brewery opened its doors in 2014 and established the first microbrewery in the northern part of the Florida’s Space Coast, transforming one of the city’s oldest buildings in to a fully functional, modern taproom. You will not only get to choose from several craft beers, you’ll also be able to enjoy wine and other pub fare, all while enjoying a piece of Space Coast’s history and small-town charm.

Stop 2:

Playalinda Brewery (Brix Project Location): Located just a few miles south of their original brewery, the Brix Project location has a hipper vibe and offers you an expanded menu, not only with food, but also with your drink options. They offer Sunday brunch every week with mimosa flights and local coffee. If you happen to be in town on October 21, join them for their actual Oktoberfest celebration. This place is a definite stop on your Oktoberfest tour.

Stop 3:

Florida Beer Company: Located in Cape Canaveral, this microbrewery gives you an up-close look of the brewery in action. Their taproom features glass windows giving you a panoramic view of the craft brewing equipment and technologies that produce 28 different styles of ales, lagers, and ciders, some of which have been recognized with prestigious awards from local, national, and international competitions. And in German fashion, not only are there options for the adults, but there are fun and games for the kids to enjoy as well.

Stop 4:

Bugnutty Brewery: Located on Merritt Island, Bugnutty has been serving craft beers since 2013. With 10-15 selections to choose from, this little “hole in the wall” brewery is a pleasant surprise with a decent pub grub menu to compliment their beer selection.

Stop 5:

Dirty Oar Beer Company: Situated in the heart of Cocoa, Florida (not to be confused with Cocoa Beach), Dirty Oar Beer Company is one of the Space Coast’s newest breweries. Opening it doors officially in July 2017, this brewery offers you a neighborly feel, perfect for those with furry friends and those who have taken a family outing enjoying all that is offered in downtown Cocoa Village. Take a photo with the Cocoa water tower while lounging in an Adirondack chair sippin’ on one of their house-brewed stouts or ales.

Stop 6:

Rocky Water Brew Fest: Making your way to the southern part of the Space Coast, this beer fest is your opportunity to have unlimited samplings of some of the finest breweries located throughout Florida. This is a ticketed event, however, the proceeds go the Eau Gallie Rotary Club, which benefits multiple national and international charities. What a great way to support a good cause while also finding a new favorite beer this October.

Stop 7:

Intracoastal Brewing Company: If you didn’t get enough beer samplings at the Rocky Water Brew Fest, stop over at Intracoastal Brewing Company located in the Eau Gallie Arts District in downtown Melbourne. With a continuous rotating menu of original craft beer recipes, this is worth a stop. You can see what is currently on tap, as well as other brews they have crafted since their opening in 2011.

Stop 8:

Hell ‘n Blazes Brewery: Located in a fully renovated 120-year old hardware and farm supply store in historic downtown Melbourne, Hell ‘n Blazes offers a wide variety of craft beers and wines in an environment that pairs old Florida style with the comfort of your own living home. This is a great spot if you want to relax over a cold one.

Stop 9:

Space Coast Oktoberfest: The final stop of the beer tour is the annual Space Coast Oktoberfest. Located in Palm Bay, this 11-day event is for anyone of any age. From fair rides, to games, to an assortment of German and other fair foods, and most important, beer, this is a “can’t miss” event. There will be a variety of international and domestic beers along with live entertainment for you to enjoy.

As you can see, Florida’s Space Coast has quite a bit to offer if you can’t hop across the pond and experience a proper Oktoberfest in Germany. So drink responsibly, have fun, and plan to stay a few days and toast alongside of us as we sing “Ein Prosit”:

Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit

Oans, Zwoa, Drei, G’Suffa!

Phonetically English:

Ayn Prawseet, Ayn Prawseet
Dare Gae-meet-lich-kite
Ayn Prawseet, Ayn Prawseet
Dare Gae-meet-lich-kite

Owns, Zwo, Dry, Ge-Sufa!

English Translation:

A toast, a toast
To cheer and good times
A toast, a toast
To cheer and good times.
ONE! TWO! THREE! DRINK UP!
