Historic Cocoa Village's BBQ & Blues returns to the Space Coast the first weekend in June. This Florida Barbecue Association Sanctioned event will feature more than forty Pro teams vying for top honors. Slated for June 6th & 7th 2014, this event is a designated State Championship and is an American Royal Invitational and Jack Daniel's World Championship qualifier. BBQ & Blues kicks off Friday afternoon with live music on the Sublime Stage at Riverfront Park, a Blues Bash at the Cocoa Civic Center, and a Pub Crawl through Historic Cocoa Village. On Saturday, Riverfront Park will see the 'meat' of the BBQ contest and ring to music from some of the best Blues Artists around! Also not to be missed are the People's Choice judging on Saturday, the Kids Fun Zone, various street entertainments, a vendor village showcasing the work of talented local artists and crafters, and of course the 5:00PM awards ceremony to honor the very tastiest in Florida BBQ! Admission is free and partial proceeds go toward supporting music in schools through Brevard Schools Foundation.
The Historic Cocoa Village Association, the HCVA, represents the majority of the merchants in Cocoa Village. The HCVA's mandate is to help promote and encourage growth of the Historic Cocoa Village community and the City of Cocoa in general by organizing and hosting community events and activities in the Village. Funds raised support various promotions, general advertising and tourism development. The HCVA's most prominent events include four Art and Craft shows, the Spring and Fall Central Florida Car Shows and of course, BBQ & Blues. The HCVA also partners with the City of Cocoa and Cocoa Main Street in the presentation of various other community supportive events and activities throughout the year.
