Get a vacation from your vacation with a side trip to the Space Coast

Florida has been a long-standing vacation hot spot because of the beautiful weather, outdoor activities, theme parks, and pristine beaches. It’s no wonder why people fly from all over the world to come here to visit. And most famous of all the cities and towns in Florida is Orlando, the main hub for your Floridian vacation. Because Orlando is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, do you know what that means? Finding the best places to eat, sleep, and play can be a bit overwhelming, unless you have a travel guide to help you. That’s where we come in…well sort of. Read on...

When planning your Orlando getaway, we encourage you to purchase package deals that cover your dining, your accommodations, and your activities. But one of the most important things you can plan to do, at least in our opinion, is to add in an overnight trip to the beach. Why? Because sometimes you need a vacation from your vacation in order to refresh yourself and the Florida’s Space Coast is just the place to do that.

A quick drive from Orlando can have you experiencing true, authentic Florida and one of the closest beaches for a little R & R. So enjoy your time at both Walt Disney World and Universal Studios or wherever your plans take you, but escape to a little “home away from home” so you can wake up refreshed to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the ocean breeze whistling through the palm trees.

Here are a few things you can enjoy with a side trip to the Space Coast.

Beach it up!

The Space Coast is home to a long stretch, 72-miles worth, of beautiful beaches that are considered some of the best in the world. No matter your beach personality type, we have a spot for you. Bask in the sun, dig your toes in the sand, and let all your worries melt away. Cool off with a quick dip or swim in the ocean to top off your day at the beach or enjoy a stroll and take in the perfect sunset. Can you feel yourself relaxing already?

Waterfront Dining

Eating out has never looked so good. With plenty of waterfront dining options, sit back and relax with your drink of choice, the fresh catch (or special) of the day, and a beautiful sunset. No matter your food preference, there is something for everyone to feast on and enjoy.

Sea Turtle Exploration

The Space Coast isn’t just for space exploration; it’s also a popular spot for sea turtle nesting. So take an educational tour of these “beachgoers” and see why so much time and effort are put into making sure these creatures stay safe and enjoy their natural habitat.

3…2…1…Lift Off

Of course, we couldn’t make a list of things to do without mentioning something about space. We aren’t called the Space Coast for any reason. One of the best aspects of this area is the fact that on any given day, you can see one of the most awe-inspiring sights locals never get tired of seeing. So as you are spending a day or two getting away from the busyness of your Orlando vacation, check out the launch schedule and our viewing locations to see if you get to witness one of our rocket launches up close.
