If you are planning a mini getaway to Florida’s Space Coast, mix things up with some time at the beach and exploring some of the area’s most popular attractions. Kids of all ages can look forward to the Space Coast family-friendly activities that provide fun and educational experiences at venues that showcase the latest in science, technology, and innovation. When it’s time to kick back and relax, look forward to plenty of sunshine and beach time around Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral.
Here are some fun ways to enjoy three days on the Space Coast with the family:
Day 1: Surfing Lessons in Cocoa Beach
Ron Jon Surf School and some smaller surfing destinations around the coast offer lessons for all levels of surfers. The whole family can participate in a group lesson or you could register kids for a private lesson when you’re planning to stay in the area for a few days. This can be a fun way to learn a new skill and make some great memories together!
Day 2: Exploring Kennedy Space Center
Make your way to the NASA launch complex, and take a tour of the Astronaut Hall of Fame at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Cape Canaveral. The entire complex can be explored in a single day or two. You could also attend special events about rocket launches and the history of spaceflight hosted at the venue throughout the year. The Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) and the opportunity to have lunch with an astronaut are just a few things to look forward to at this popular attraction.
Day 3: Breaking Away to the Theme Parks
Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios, and the wealth of attractions in Orlando are just about an hour’s drive from Florida’s Space Coast. Spend a day at the theme parks and enjoy some of the new rides at the Magic Kingdom, the Harry Potter experience at Universal Studios, or some of the free sights and sounds around the all-new Disney Springs. SeaWorld is located a short drive from Universal Studios and is another family-friendly destination that will make for a memorable vacation. Just hop on S.R. 528 from Cocoa Beach for a straight drive to Orlando.
