DESCRIPTION

F. Burton Smith Regional Park's hardwood hammock, pastureland, prairie and wetland ecosystems inspire nature and wildlife enthusiasts, while the park amenities invite group activities. With a view toward a small nature lake, the large pavilion with a kitchen seats up to 600 people, and two small pavilions beside a larger lake are near a playground and restrooms. Individual picnic tables are also situated around the lake, with volleyball and horseshoe facilities nearby. The large lake features a natural canoe launch and fishing is welcomed there and in the tributaries, although swimming is not allowed. On the south side of the lake is a rustic tent camping site and one mile woodland nature trail, while another .25 mile nature trail with botanical markers is located near the large pavilion.
