DESCRIPTION

Barrier Island Sanctuary is a thirty-four acre natural preserve consisting of an interpretive hiking trail that weaves through a cross section of all the barrier island habitats and an educational center that provides a focal point for the Archie Carr Refuge and the associated barrier island by providing exhibit space, a presentation hall, and ongoing educational programs that promote stewardship of the area’s fragile natural resources.   Guided sea turtle hikes are conducted in June and July by reservation only!
