DESCRIPTION

The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge will celebrate their 50th Anniversary on January 23-28, 2013.  A premiere recreation are for Space Coast Visitors and residents, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge has protected wildlife habitat while providing safety and security for space missions at Kennedy Space Center. 

Events planned for the 50th Anniversary include a lecture series on history of the refuge and Merritt Island area, historical accounts from residents of pre-refuge settlements, and a festival including exhibitors, wildlife tours, historical demonstrations, hayrides, art show, and more!
