DESCRIPTION

Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today.  New York City is a dream for some, an urban nightmare for others.  A group of young East Village bohemians -- filmmaker Mark, musician Roger, landlord Benny, computer genius Tom Collins, public interest lawyer Joanne, performing artists Angel and Maureen, and exotic dancer Mimi – struggle with poverty, eviction, drug addiction, adultery, loss of artistic integrity, and the omnipresent shadow of AIDS.  How these friends negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking show, winner of the 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical… 

…Which now makes its Brevard County debut at Surfside Players!  RENT runs for three weekends, April 20 – May 6, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and active military, $15 for students.  Call (321) 783-3127 for reservations.
